Lucky
We are SO lucky...to have Lucky!
Watch the video. Now watch it again. Are you in love yet? we sure are!
Lucky, senior citizen (supposedly ~60 years old!) Blue-Front Amazon that he is, certainly doesn't act like it! Lucky is the second of three geriatric parrots who joined us after his human began to struggle with dementia, and while Lucky struggled alongside him- it's easy to tell from his animated conversation with foster mama Annie that he is truly a happy-go-LUCKY guy!
Like the other birds from his former household, Lucky was also diagnosed with Avian Borna Virus, he has a growth on his abdomen, and arthritis too- but with special needs accommodations like wrapped perches and platforms to rest upon, he is learning how to navigate his new situation with aplomb. This older gentleman will need regular vet visits and tweaks to his environment to make sure he is comfortable, and he must go to an experienced household without other birds, or one that is equipped to deal with ABV. Lucky is on two different types of medication for life, but that doesn't stop him from sharing joy with the humans he encounters- and it's certainly contagious!
