Katya

Katya is a Russian tortoise with a big personality, even if she may seem shy at first. If you spend a bit more time with her, she'll warm up to you and you'll see her sassy, adventurous personality. She regularly redecorates her enclosure by digging and moving things to her liking. When let out of her enclosure, she likes to roam and explore her new surroundings, but if she gets overwhelmed she makes a beeline for the corner of the room. Her feelings about being held can be compared to those of an embarrassed teenager: “Mom!! Stop it!!"

Katya appreciates having a big hollow log hide to spend the day in after a breakfast of fresh greens and basking under the heat lamps. She's usually active again in the afternoon and likes to soak in warm water or even have a supervised walk outside when it's warm.
